From the bus terminal of Lei On Estate, the trail starts by following the pathway through between Lei Hing House and Lei Shing House roughly toward the east. After passing through the basketball courts, climb up along the path covering on the left planter wall to join the left concrete road. Head the concrete road to the right through the cross-junction under the bridge, then still go ahead until up to another concrete path. Follow the path to the right, not far ahead, pay attention to the left where is an entry of the muddy uphill path (opposite to the lamppost 1515).
* If starting from Wu Kai Sha MTR station, you could follow Sha On Street toward Lei On Estate. When heading to the gateway of the car park nearby, trace the concrete side path on the left. Along it until the end at the junction, it then follows the path to the right until the left uphill muddy path as mentioned above. (The branch path could be shown on the map)
The north ridge of The Hunch Backs
Follow the muddy path uphill until the junction, it then turns left downward (right to the reservoir from Ngau Wu Stream) and winds along the hillsides eastward. Along the way, Lei On Estate could be seen on the left. Head it until the crossing, then ascend the path on the right through the woods along the north ridge of The Hunch Backs. It is obvious but very steep that would require clambering. Up to the relatively gentle section, it turns steep again. Pass through the left junction of Skyline Path, still ascend the steep rocky slope. Up ahead not far, it then comes to the entry of Wild Goose Valley Path on the right.
Note: Wild Goose Valley Path is quite rugged and parts of it are very steep that requires clambering. Recommand you to put on gloves for that. In addition, you need to refer the ribbon marks bound in the trees as guidance for the way along the path.

Wild Goose Valley Path
Along Wild Goose Valley Path, it winds westward through the north hillsides of Tiu Shau Ngam. The path is slightly narrow at the beginning section and fairly rugged but is still obvious with the ribbon marks for the guidance. Head it not far, it sharply leads down then turns up where there are some ropes for asistance but be not too dependent on them. After passing through the rocky slopes, it descends again and then crosses over the upstream of Ngau Wu Stream. After the downhill path, it turns gentle and winds along the hillsides through the forest. After cross over the several streams, it passes the left junction of an uphill path. Still go ahead along the trail not far, it comes to the next junction. Follow the left path at the junction, it leads down initially then winds roughly toward the west. Beyond the thick woods, the trail opens up where is also the junction of climbing the ridge named Golden Wall Ridge, and also there is a downhill path on the right leading to Shun Yee San Tsuen.
After detouring Golden Wall Ridge, you could look up an undulated ridge line at the front. There is two valleys in the hillsides where is the upstream of Ngan Heng Stream. The left valley is relatively broad known as Ape Valley which means that an ape is defending the valley in the chinese literally. If gazing it in the distance, It looks like a huge ape showing its left arm facing to the left. The another valley seems to be a deep 'V' named as Kam Mo Kau Valley which means a dog with a golden coat of hair in the literal meaning. It is because in the valley there are some wild plants of Cibotium barometz which roots are hairy in golden colour like dog hairs. Moveover, there is also the hot spots in the hillsides between the top of the ridge of Tiu Shau Ngam and Wild Goose Path horizontally cutting through the north slope, for the advance hikers to explore such as climbing streams and rocks, especially these two valleys, Golden Wall Ridge and its north ridge of Tiu Shau Ngam. Afterward, continue to follow the trail ahead, it becomes smooth.
After entering the woods, it passes the accesses to Ape Valley and Kam Mo Kau Valley on the left respectively where are actually the streams. Beyond the woods, it offers the full view over Sha Tin and Shing Mun.
Ma On Shan Barbecue Site
Head to the left junction of climbing Tiu Shau Ngam, descend the right path to the pavilion. Afterward, trace the downhill steps of Ma On Shan Family Walk to the left until coming to the barbecue site, then follow Ma On Shan Tsuen Road to the right downhill. Head it down, then take the side path on the right under the bridge of Ma On Shan Bypass, the path leads to the Kam Ying Court.

Summary
Wild Goose Valley Path is quite rugged but the difficulty can't compare with that of the valleys and the streams in the north Tiu Shau Ngam for the advanced hikers. Each hill, each ridge and each valley always has exit, just as each problem also has its way to solve. Only experiencing and facing the difficulties to strengthen the will could overcome everything in time of adversity. During hiking, however, if you have not stopped, seen then thought carefully and have even not overcome some difficulties to experience for yourself, you often get nothing.
