Static Map KML fileNgau Wu Teng
The trail starts by following the concrete path to the left from the pier. After the right turn, it joins the uphill steps on the left that leads to Mo's Old House and Coffin Rock. Along the trail, it gently ascends. Passing the junction to Mo's Old House, go ahead upward and it then opens up where could look back far to Tai Wan. In early summer, as the green woods are rather lush, Coffin Rock on the right upper can be partly hidden. Futher up, it runs on the rocky slope and then continues tracing the concrete path. Up to the junction of Country Trail Section 3 on the left, turn right.
Head the smooth path along the ridge, it then leads to the pavilion of Ngau Wu Teng. Looking around, the sublime scenery could be seen. In the sunny day, the unlimited horizon seems that the blue sky were based on the sea.
The lighthouse
Follow the flight of steps downhill. Along the way looking down, it offers the spectacular view on the headland like a peninsula at the south of Ngong Chong and over Nam Kok Tsui at the south end stretching to the sea. The rocks with rugged veins along the shore seems to be dissolved gradually in the emerald waters. Overlooking to the south, the long islands and the white long clouds floating above them both extend horizontally. Down to the junction of Ngong Chong, the trail then follows the left path uphill. Along the ridge up, some rocks with unique shapes could be seen. Heading the trail, it comes to Monk Rock. Further up, you could look back to Tortoise Rock which seems a large tortoise climbing hard the hill. At the lighthouse, it opens up very much toward the sea.
Along the trail, it descents to the obscure junction to Nam Kok Tsui. Deviate the main path and climb over the rocks ahead. It leads to the south end of Hong Kong - Nam Kok Tsui. (If not going to Nam Kok Tsui, you could continue to head the trail.)
Exit: At the junction of Ngong Chong, taking the right path could return to the pier. (Around 30 minutes)
Nam Tam Wan
Retrace the way to return to the main path and then head it to the left. Along the way, Palm Cliff, a rock which shape is like a huge hand of a Buddha, could be seen at the left shore. Afterward, it returns to the junction of Ngong Chong then traces the left path to the pier, which skirts along the shore. Further ahead, there is also a flight of steps on the left leading down to the coastal rock carvings. Head the trail, it comes to the old house which may be a store and then passes through it on the left. At the next fort, take the left path to the pier.
Summary
Hiking in Pok To Island could enjoy the sublime landscapes and the very peaceful country setting as a large natural garden separated from the rest of the world. Moreover, it is quite unforgettable for the peculiar rocks as if they were fine sculptured for nature art.
