The path to Three Diamond Rocks is partly very steep that would requires clambering.
Reservoir Islands Viewpoint and Sweet Gum Woods could be skipped.

From the minibus terminal (you would be required following So Kwun Wat Tsuen Road to the minibus terminal from the bus stop of K53), follow the one-way section of So Kwun Wat Tsuen Road ahead, it leads to the junction of MacLehose Trail. Head the right path by the signpost to Wong Nai Tun Reservoir, it slowly winds up. Along the way, it offers the scenic view around Tai Lam Chung Reservoir which is nestled and enclosed with the green woods. In the gentle sunshine, the jade waters become dazzling. It is comfortable in the breeze and also thanks for the good feelings offered by nature. Afterward, head to the junction then follow the muddy path on the right according to the signpost to Tai Tong. Along it a short distance, it comes to the entry of the uphill path of climbing Sui Por Por Shan on the left.

Sui Por Por Shan
Climb the muddly path on the left, it is quite steep initially and requires clambering in parts of the section. Beyond the rocky terrain, it joins the left muddy path that is obvious and have some ribbons along the way for the reference. Further up, the view of reservoir islands could be partly seen on your rear. At that time, the hill of Reservoir Islands Viewpoint is just towering behind the electric tower. Afterward, it leads to the hilltop of Sui Por Por Shan. The hill is not height but there is very open. Overlooking to the north, the full view of Yuen Long and Kam Tin come to your eyes. Pan the sight to the right, it offers the spectacular mountain scene that the undulated rolling hills like the waves are extending to Tai Mo Shan. Each hill seems not to be alone as there are many electric towers connecting between them.
Three Diamond Rocks
Continuing on along the path towards the north, the electric tower ahead could be seen as the target. Gently descend to the mini canyon in front of the electric tower. After passing through over the canyon, follow the path on the right downward alongside the canyon and at that moment there is another electric tower at the front on the knoll. Head the path, it then passes through the electric tower. Futher ahead, it turns right at the junction, then descends roughly along the way paralleled to the electric cables. After going downhill a short distance, it comes to the top of the huge rock on the right. Go ahead on it, there are just a few pieces of rock below that seems to be nothing special. However, go down beneath the huge rock, there is a gap. Peep upward through the gap, the three ‘Diamonds’ inlaid vertically could be seen. It seems to be made by God.
Afterward, continue to follow the path down, it then turns very steep that requires you holding trees and rocks to assist. After sharply down to the brook, it steeply ascends through the bamboo forest, and then climbs the rapid slope. At the junction, turn right towards the electric tower. Head it not far, it joins MacLehose Trail.
Note: The path from Three Diamond Rocks to MacLehose Trail is very steep and rugged that would require clambering strenuously. You could also retrace you steps to return MacLehose Trail.
Reservoir Islands Viewpoint and Sweet Gum Woods
Follow MacLehose Trail to the right, it then heads to the entry of Reservoir Islands Viewpoint on the left. Ascend the fight of steps, it leads up to the top of the knoll. Go ahead along the path, it comes to the open viewpoint. Gazing down, it offers a full view over Tai Lam Chung Reservoir. The patterns and the colours of the jade waters enclosed with the meandering coastline vary with the variation of the sun light and the water level, which form a dynamic picture. Afterwards, return to MacLehose Trail, then retrace the steps to the right to the junction(M180) exited from Three Diamond Rocks. Continue on along MacLehose Trail, it then joins the concrete path. Head it until the junction of Tai Tong Shan Road, then turn right to Sweet Gum Woods according to the signpost. Afterwards, retrace the steps to the junction and then go ahead by the signpost to the way to Tai Tong Shan Road Bus Stop. Passing through the gate, still follow Tai Tong Shan Road downhill. Finally, it leads to the bus stop at Kiu Hing Road.

Alternatives:
- After join MacLehose Trail from Three Diamond Rocks, if not go to Reservoir Islands Viewpoint, you could directly follow MacLehose to the left to Sweet Gum Woods or Tai Tong.
- If not go to Sweet Gum Woods, you could directly go to Tai Tong by turning left from the junction of Tai Tong Shan Road.
