Static Map KML fileTai Tan
From the Tai Tan bus stop, the trail begins with the concrete path on the left to Tai Tan. After joining Tai Tan Country Trail and passing through Tai Tan village, it skirts along the coast with a majestic view over Sharp Peak at the far east. You could also see mangroves, fiddler crabs and mudskippers on the shore. Afterward, the trail gently descends to a cove. The waters near the coast are clear and appear to be emerald in colour.
Lo Tsai Shek
Along the cove, take the path on the left which winds along the hillside with a slow ascent. At the next fork, according to the roadsign to Hoi Ha, follow the trail downward on the right. Descending to a col - a small valley, leave from the main trail and take the sidepath on the left with ribbons bound on plants as a marking for the entry. The path becomes narrow and rough but not too steep. Up ahead, it winds to the hilltop of Lo Tsai Shek.
Alternative: If you do not climb up the hilltop of Lo Tsai Shek, continue on along the Country Trail ahead to Hoi Ha Wan.
At the top, it offers sublime scenery over Hoi Ha Wan and Nam Fung Wan in the distance. The meandering coastline and aquamarine waters around the peninsula of Wan Tsai are also within sight. Overlooking to the west, the coast of Grass Island and the opposite Ko Lau Wan separated by the channel could be seen. Afterward, down the trail on the right, it contours along the ridge downhill towards Lan Lo Au and Wan Tsai. After descending to Lan Lo Au, it joins back to the Tai Tan Country Trail and then follow it to the left to Hoi Ha. (If available, you could go to the campsite of Wan Tsai and Nam Fung Wan by following the Country Trail to the right, and also detour around the peninsula of Wan Tsai along the Nature Trail.)
Exit: Ferry service is available on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from Nam Fung Wan to Wong Shek pier.
Hoi Ha Wan
Along the coastal trail, it skirts the unpolluted tranquil inlet with the good feelings offered by nature, as far away from city hustle. Beyond Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre at the shore, it comes to a remnant of lime kiln like a well. Not far ahead, it arrives at Hoi Ha village and there are some restaurants and beverage stores. Passing through Hoi Ha village, the trail leads to the mini bus stop at Hoi Ha Road.
Summary
It was delightful and comfortable for the tranquil feeling, the fresh aura of plants, and the spendid scenery offered by nature. Hope that the unpolluted and unspoiled place with diverse marine animals could be still preserved.
